Rockburn Skills Park

Home Page

Mid-Atlantic Off Road Enthusiasts (M.O.R.E), Howard County Recreation and Parks, and International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) have created a private-public partnership to build a skills area in Rockburn Branch Park--for those of you who have yet to visit Rockburn, it is 450 acres located in Elkridge, Maryland with two entrances: one by Rockburn Elementary School off of Montgomery Rd and the other on Landing Rd across the street from Patapsco Valley State Park.  The multi-use trail system is being built with mountain bikers and trail runners in mind.  It will consist of multiple trails of varying complexity and will be called The Rockburn Skills Park.

Howard County has dedicated land in Rockburn Branch Park for the project; IMBA is flying in world-class trail builders and designers; and MORE is raising the funding and providing volunteer support.  The final product will be donated to the park system and will be free for the public to use.  The park will include a pavilion, a pump track and three downhill lines: one for beginners, one for intermediate riders, and one for more advanced riders. This will be a family-first facility where Howard County kids and adults can hone their bicycle riding skills.

IMBA has started construction the three new lines and return trail for the skills park. The pump track is just one small part of the overall Skills Park. The flow trails are sure to get your stoke flowing and we really need all the help we can get between now and the completion of the project. We are expecting IMBA to be here for four to six weeks, working every day. I am sure there will be volunteer time once they get started and you will receive updates about it.

How to Know when the Pump Track is Open/Closed??
Posted December 4

If you want to know if the track is open before you head over to it, call the weather closures hotline: 410-313-4455.  HoCo Recs and Parks updates their hotline regularly to let you know what parts of the park are open and closed - the Pump Track has been added to the hotline.  Also, the park has a sign they are posting at the  track to let you know if it is closed due to rain, etc.  Always assume the day of rain and for the next 24 hours it will be closed, obviously wind and sunshine help it dry faster.
